TWS #33310 AK Top Cover Rail

Works on most AK47's, all SAIGA Rilfes & Standard Version 1 VEPR Rifles (except 7.62x54r). Does not fit Vepr Version 2.

Scoped AK rifles require a very low mounted optic to maintain a proper cheek weld for consistent shooting. One only needs to observe the height of the standard iron sights to confirm this. Most scope mounts for the AK place the optics too high to maintain a proper cheek weld. This is done as a compromise to allow scope mounting while permitting top cover removal. This unfortunate compromise forces the shooter to brace the buttstock along the jaw line, or in some cases, completely under the chin.

Texas Weapon Systems Dog Leg™ AK rail solves this dilemma with the innovative new third-generation Dog Leg™ Scope Rail with integral dust cover. Incorporating a unique joggle shape behind the rear sight block, the TWS 33310 provides the lowest possible MIL-STD-1913 mounting surface. The field stripping capability is preserved with the quick-release cam-lock mechanism that precisely returns to zero and is so simple to operate.

The TWS Dog Leg™ Scope Rail replaces the standard dust cover and easily installs with a single hinge pin to the rear sight block in place of the rear leaf sight. The included cam-lock release button replaces the standard release button and is installed to the return spring.

It will fit most AK pattern rifles, including stamped and milled receivers, as well as fixed, under-folding and side-folding stocks. The adjustable front tab allows custom fitting to the user's individual weapon.
